Stewardship versus economic decision making in financial reporting
The main point of monetary depicting blending to the IASB ââ¬Ës Preparation and Presentation of Financial Statements model is that of providing equivalent data so as to empower investors direct financial assurance formulating. This brought the contention of whether such equitable dismissed the significance of the stewardship evaluation by the bit of investors. In the past decennary the IASB and the US FASB have been dealing with a joint endeavor to build up an applied model for monetary inclusion. Such reasonable model has the motivation behind providing a base for creating fit, future bookkeeping rules. In 2008, the sheets gave a presentation bill of trade of section one and part two of the reasonable model with part one endeavor the points of financial inclusion. In the presentation bill of trade that has been as of late gave by the two sheets, it was distinguished that the point of monetary inclusion ought to be that of cooking for all the conclusions that capital providers make, including both asset assignment judgments and judgments made to secure and elevate their investings. Besides on the verifiable in presentation bill of trade there is expressed that data about the stewardship of an element ââ¬Ës financial assets ought to be considered as choice valuable data. Thus in this introduction bill of trade obviously the two sheets moved from focusing altogether on monetary assurance formulating, to general assurance conceiving, with stewardship being remembered for such more extensive definition. In spite of the fact that this transition to focus on assurance utility rather than explicitly on monetary assurance conceiving was an organization to subsume stewardship in the point of financial inclusion, authors, for example, Andrew Lennard still contend that stewardship and assurance utility ought to be perceived as independent points. ââ¬Å" aëâ â ¦stewardship contributes an of import measurement to financial inclusion, which ought to be reflected by explicit acknowledgment in the points of monetary inclusion. â⬠[ 1 ] The majority of the journalists who perceive stewardship as a cardinal point in monetary inclusion, guarantee that financial proclamations ought to be set up on the balance of recorded expenses. This guarantees in providing an unmistakable, verifiable history of the minutess that happened during the twelvemonth, over which bearing had control. Accordingly depicting on recorded expense can assist investors with bringing through their stewardship evaluation needs better. On the different manus, to accommodate assurance utility, especially in footings of monetary assurance contriving, financial inclusion would focus more on the expectation of future hard money streams. Such objective would be better tended to with appraisals dependent on advertise esteems, since they better mirror the planning and sureness of future hard cash streams. This is taking to the outgrowth of rating methods dependent on current qualities, for example, simply esteem. The acknowledgment of simply esteem bookkeeping is potentially one of the most dubious issues by and by being looked by the bookkeeping universe. Both the IASB and the FASB have been taking a shot at this issue for the last duo mature ages. Generally, monetary inclusion has been altogether founded on authentic expenses. The use of current qualities, for example, simply esteem depicting developed nearly late, and was applied to only hardly any chose nations. One of the nations where simply esteem had a significant impact is in the estimating of financial instrument. Utilizing market esteems to esteem Financial Instruments is considered to be trustworthy ( since business sectors in these focuses are acceptable created ) and applicable ( on the grounds that the estimations of monetary instruments can see large variances, in this manner chronicled costs delineates an extremely hapless picture of current qualities ) . Notwithstanding, in the close by from this point forward, simply esteem estimating is probably going to be reached out to different resources, especially in the obvious radiation of the reality of the IASB ââ¬Ës and FASB ââ¬Ës detected inclination for simply esteem estimating even where the market is non acceptable created. ââ¬Å" The IASB accepts that simply esteem estimating under IFRS and GAAP is as of now steady. Furthermore, the IASB and the FASB will proceed to cooperate to ensure that utilizing simply an incentive in a dormant market is represented deliberately â⬠[ 2 ]. Investors are partitioned into two boss classs, private people and institutional speculators. Albeit monetary inclusion is intended to accommodate the requests of capital providers, because of the lack of discernment ordinarily found inside private single investors, concerns may start on what such private single investors distinguish as utile, for their assurance devising.Need for the survey:The proposition ââ¬Ës point is to put the current requests of private investors and what they recognize as significant data. The proposal will so break down how much the point of convergence on assurance utility and the expectation of future hard money courses through simply esteem bookkeeping will help private investors in satisfying their demands.Research Methodology:The postulation will be of a subjective sort. The reason for such theory is to achieve a profound anxiety of what nearby private investors esteem as pertinent data, and to break down whether the developing build of simply esteem bookkeeping will flexibly such clients increasingly important bookkeeping data. The motivation behind the study is non to sum up discoveries yet to acquire rich depiction on the verifiable in subject. The strategy being mulled over to gather the subjective data is the puting up of point of convergence bunches with investors. Such gathering medicines give direct grounds about similitudes and contrasts in member ââ¬Ës conclusions. Members are non required to answer for each request empowering them to build on each other ââ¬Ës reaction. Moreover by moving as an arbitrator I can ensure that the treatment is ever kept on way. At last, point of convergence gatherings can be considered as a progressively conceivable arrangement when contrasted with open finished meetings with investors. The reaction pace of investors to a point of convergence bunch is probably going to be more prominent when contrasted with an individual 1 on one meeting, since the last is seen as progressively meddling. The central limitation of using point of convergence bunches is conceivably the risk that individuals impact each other ââ¬Ës reaction. As an outcome the reaction of members can be not quite the same as the reaction that would hold been produced from a private 1 on one meeting. Investors from two neighborhood, recorded organizations are making a trip to be considered as the populace test. These organizations are Bank of Valletta and HSBC. The pick fell on these organizations on the grounds that because of the ongoing modifications to IAS 39 and IFRS 7, simply esteem estimating considerably affected the financial division. Along these lines, because of such truth investors can be much progressively concerned and influenced with the fundamental fit. Two point of convergence bunches are intended to be set, one with BOV investors and one with HSBC investors, with bunches runing from six to twelve individuals. Investor ââ¬Ës rundown can be acquired from the Malta Financial Services Authority. The inspected populace will with the exception of abroad investors, trusts and contributing organizations, hence focusing altogether on nearby private stockholders.Chapters Overview:Introduction: principal the stewardship versus financial assurance doing contention will be handled, and its consequences for rating on monetary inclusion will be examined. The proposition will so focus on the outgrowth of simply esteem as an estimating instrument and its planned use. Moreover simply worth will be thoroughly analyzed with cost based rating. The presentation will other than incorporate an examination of how each appraising strategy provides food for the single private investors ââ¬Ë requests. Writing Reappraisal: writing reappraisal can be centered around two aspects being the contention of simply esteem estimating versus cost based estimating, and the contention of whether private investors use bookkeeping data to a great extent for monetary assurance conceiving, or to quantify stewardship. Examination Methodology: in this development I will delineate how the results were accomplished, explaining how the data was gathered and dissected. This region will fuse the failings and limitations of the exploration strategies and methodological examination utilized. In the methodological examination I will other than incorporate any employments that I foreseen and explain any stairss taken to hinder them from occurring. Findingss: this part of postulation will join the data produced from the point of convergence gatherings. Results will be introduced, deciphered and talked about in this region. Choice: this part will gracefully thinking entrances on the examination, and proposals of other exploration requests that can be handled to better the exploration on the nation. The main requests to be replied in this region are: what has been gained from the outcomes? In what manner can this cognizance be utilized? What are the imperfections of the research?Bibliography:Accounting Standards Board. ( 2007 ) . ( his own specific manner at his own time) Negative-singular considers all to be â⬠all expectation lost/no other wayâ⬠, due absence of expectation à and inspiration lets thing turn insane to make things worse.à Problem to recognize an issue or ability to acknowledge helpingâ hand is a major issue. ( different reasons like improper, loss of hope, other). â⬠with the negative mental state you may locate that physical signs are atâ present ( absence of rest, animosity, nervosas, other) Psychological wellness â⬠connected to clinical model which centers around rewarding sicknesses setting up finding and treatment just as anticipation, offering clinical and other help ( different gatherings meetings ect) mental prosperity take all encompassing perspective on the individual experience. eg. How customers loved ones respond to him and his disease, offering good and social help. â⬠Also nourishment and territory customer lives assumes extraordinary job â⬠different exercises with the loved ones â⬠Rather than giving clinical treatment it is increasingly about aiding improving and bolstered or not wiped out by any means 1.2 clarify scope of elements which may impact mental prosperity and psychological wellness over the life expectancy including ( 3 elements): â⬠people previous history-adolescence and high school hood are the indispensable pieces of our lifes. The Life and Poetry of Edwin Arlington Robinson Essay Example for Free
The Life and Poetry of Edwin Arlington Robinson Essay Verse is the beat of each author soul. It changes in differentiation starting with one craftsman or artist then onto the next. Sonnets dont by and large intrigue to the best number of people, and they could barely be viewed as a well known or elusive type of amusement. Be that as it may, the author Edwin Arlington Robinson; and the capable collection of work hes achieved in his verse over the degree of his composing profession, and maybe basically, his life, seems to discredit or withdraw from the previously mentioned feeling. The three-time Pulitzer Prize-winning essayist, summons in his verse, parts of humankind which practically every individual can relate to. Robinsons ability to envelop and summon the previously mentioned opinions in his verse has driven him to be viewed and suitably named as a ââ¬Å"people poet,â⬠and when of his demise on 1935, the author whose verse was appreciated by president Theodore Roosevelt himself, was broadly viewed and perceived as a main American writer of his time and ages to come, setting up him along the preferences and positions of individual American artist, Robert Frost. Edwin Arlington Robinson was brought into the world the most established child of Edward Robinson and Mary Palmer on December 22, 1869 in Gardner, Maine to an especially wealthy family. He had two siblings kin who didnt share or make the most of his specific triumphs. One of them was a specialist who in the long run turned into a medication junkie, and the other was a drunkard who filled his enslavement by wasting the family fortune. Robinson didn't wed like his siblings did, yet he professed to have become hopelessly enamored more than once, and in spite of modesty, the artist had countless dear companions (Donaldson). Robinson figured out how to recognize right off the bat that verse was his reason for living. Despite the fact that his underlying works were not also gotten as his later compositions, the writer regardless sought after and culminated this specific intrigue which he guaranteed was the main thing he realized how to do. He took classes in French, English and Shakespeare in Harvard for a concise time of two years until he had to leave at the example of his dads passing. He composed plentifully and comprehensively after his dads burial service, and a lot to his underlying hesitance, he amiably played the job of turning out to be man of the house (Porter). In the same way as other authors, craftsmen and artists, and notwithstanding being naturally introduced to a rich family, Robinson endured a time of destitution which kept going quite a long while, for the most part since his sibling had just exhausted the fortune they were naturally introduced to, and in light of the fact that as an essayist, or writer, he wasnt precisely managed the most noteworthy of pay, not to mention was consistently paid or distributed by any means. Composing was Robinsons method of adapting to conditions which were introduced to him, and his verse filled in as a clear and masterful reflection, documentation, or maybe, individual interpretation of reality as it happened and unfurled in his private circle, and somewhere else encompassing him. Robinson was among the primary artists to compose of conventional individuals, of the appearing to be ordinary, trite and worn out examples which happened to people over the span of presence on an everyday premise. He composed of butchers, penny pinchers, store agents, and comparable apparently inconsequential people with an innovative expert articulation which rendered the standard individuals he was alluding to as impeccably and painfully excellent pieces and exemplifications of mankind in a world that would somehow be seen as excruciating and lowly. He caught the situation of each working man, in spite of the fact that he was not really one of them. What's more, the specific subject managed by his verse varied from what different scholars and writers in nineteenth century America were communicating and enjoying, this isolated Robinson from the pack and built up him as a particular and exceptional voice of his time (Donaldson). Robinsons close consideration and affectability to beat, congruity and sound is generally obvious in each word, line and verse which comprise his verse. This notion is generally obvious in his maybe most broadly perceived sonnet entitled ââ¬Å"Richard Cory,â⬠a melodious refrain perfectly composed and made out of conventional rhyming stanzas which just asked to be perused out loud. Its substance, notwithstanding, is not the slightest bit conventional for now is the ideal time, and as what has been now referenced, the refrains, when perused resoundingly, are magnificently and colossally wonderful to tune in to. In it, Robinson relates a charming portrayal of a man named â⬠as the title as of now hints â⬠Richard Cory, who had all the earmarks of being graced with all the fine, lucky, and perhaps advantageous attributes a man of his word of Robinsons time could have. This much is described all through the degree of the generally short, four-refrain sonnet, which finishes in a stunningly sad incongruity which shows the ability and inventive virtuoso of Edwin Arlington Robinson, the sonnet starts by relating: Whenever Richard Cory went downtown,/We individuals on the asphalt took a gander at him:/He was an honorable man fromsole to crown,/Clean-supported and majestically thin â⬠(Robinson). In spite of the fact that the sonnet doesnt fundamentally focus on the recently referenced topic which runs overflowing in Robinsons work â⬠in other words, the predicament of the normal working man â⬠it regardless joins a slant of the said themed conventionality in the section when Robinson, or the describing voice in the sonnet articulates ââ¬Å"we individuals on the asphalt took a gander at him The tone of the sonnet at that point seems, by all accounts, to be told from the viewpoint of the low class, the average workers, the ordinary citizens, or to put it roughly, poor people. The artist stays devoted to the people which exist as the focal concern or subject of the greater part of his different sonnets. And keeping in mind that Robinson might be talking from the perspective of the normal man in ââ¬Å"Richard Cory,â⬠he manages no partial or sick view towards his rich hero; however rather paints a well-meaning, wonderfully mannered, thoughtful person who coincidenta lly was affluent. Painting the individual that is Richard Cory as outstanding, rather than fortunate. Of his hero he composes: ââ¬Å"And he was rich, truly, more extravagant than a lord,/And outstandingly educated in each elegance:/In fine â⬠we felt that he was everything/To make us wish that we were in his place. â⬠(Robinson). The artist plays out each line with a flawless and straightforward expressive describing, intended to be perused for what it is, not covering behind complex play of words and analogies, or expecting to dazzle under a veneer of ostentatious and pompous words and verse. The excellence of Robinsons verse, as obvious in Richard Cory exists in that capacity, flawless and basic in structure and structure, yet melodious, connecting with, and addresses a crucial part of mankind noteworthy in any and each time. The finishing up section of ââ¬Å"Richard Coryâ⬠confirms this supposition by revealing: ââ¬Å"So on we worked and hung tight for the light,/And abandoned meat and reviled the bread,/And Richard Cory, one quiet summer night, Went home and put a slug in his mind. â⬠(Robinson). Much like each incredible gem, Robinsons verse â⬠as obvious in the sonnet that is Richard Cory â⬠incites reflection. It requests that people consider the incongruity which exists and has large amounts of each individual reality, anyway anecdotal its setting might be. It likewise trickles of interest and disaster, which are maybe focal components of provoking human curiosity, however this is finished with a specific value, and even style which makes for an intelligent and influencing, instead of ââ¬Å"entertainingâ⬠piece. The summit of Richard Corys life in self destruction exists as both a riddle and a conspicuous or telling scene in a people life, both in fiction and the waking reality. It presents a perspective on mankind which may not show up especially novel or amazing for a large portion of us today, yet is something which should in any case be given close consideration to. ââ¬Å"Richard Coryâ⬠exemplifies the valuable straightforwardness just as influencing incongruity and authentic heart which exists in Robinsons verse. The sonnet bears perusers a passage of an appearing to be simple, however endlessly influencing bit of humankind which exists in the bounds of rhyme, verse, congruity that is basically Edwin Arlington Robinsons verse. Another fitting case of the writers virtuoso which exists maybe not as broadly and to an alternate degree, yet in a regardless choice and influencing way, is Robinsons tribute to a kindred artist, eponymously entitled, ââ¬Å"Walt Whitman. â⬠In it, Robinson relates, in tones much the same as that of an incredible admirer of Whitmans, his suppositions on the example of the regarded humanist writers passing. He starts the sonnet by articulating, ââ¬Å"The ace melodies are finished, and the man/A name; as is love, and life, and passing Last night it was the tune that was the man/But now it is the man that is the tune. â⬠(Robinson). His adoration for Whitman as a kindred artist, an essayist of melodies and ditties of humankind is displayed in the magnificence of the said refrain, and in lines in which he discusses Whitmans verse and voice as ââ¬Å"too unadulterated for us â⬠excessively effectively unadulterated, excessively affectionately triumphant, and excessively huge (Robinson). These sections fill in as a fitting idyllic commendation and recognition of a similarly striking writer. The sonnet comes full circle in a telling and amazing refrain which exists in the accompanying lines, ââ¬Å"No melodies are finished that are ever sung,/Mens letters on glad marble or on sand, We keep in touch with them there until the end of time. â⬠(Robinson). The previously mentioned lines hold a lot of truth, not exclusively to Whitmans verse, however to Robinsons and to each person who focuses on making concrete their interests too. Edwin Arlington Robinson is viewed as a significant American artist for this very explanation, on the grounds that the verse he makes can reflect and inspire a lot of mankind, and simultaneously, sway on the real factors

Nietzsche on Homer Borne Back Ceaselessly into the Past - Literature Essay Samples
Nietzscheââ¬â¢s short work Homerââ¬â¢s Contest is part of his attempt to develop an axiology that reinstates morality within the realm of aesthetic existence, grounding lofty ideas like ââ¬Å"goodâ⬠and ââ¬Å"evilâ⬠within a naturalistic framework. In this essay, he puts forth an interpretation of the structure through which Homeric values are expressed. Contest, Nietzsche tells us, is a distinctly Greek phenomenon which posits quite simply that ââ¬Å"every talent must develop through a struggle,â⬠(Nietzsche, 98). As he investigates the contest underlying Homerââ¬â¢s worldview, Nietzsche discovers a search for aims and ends that esteem the value of human life even in light of exceptional struggle. One could describe Nietzscheââ¬â¢s project in this work as selfish in the sense that he hopes to reinstate what is in his view a worthy framework while fundamentally changing its ends. Still, his evaluation of Homerââ¬â¢s project offers a useful lens t o understand the fragile nature of the homecoming towards which Odysseus so desperately struggles. The concept of contest is useful both in approaching an interpretation of Homerââ¬â¢s overall values, and in interpreting the actions of the Odyssseyââ¬â¢s major protagonist, Odysseus. Whether or not Homer himself wrote the Odyssey he was certainly engaged in an artistic project. Such projects, Nietzsche explains, were to the Greeks an oppositional effort: ââ¬Å"modern man fears nothing so much in an artist as personal belligerence, whilst the Greek knows the artist only in personal struggle,â⬠(Nietzsche, 99). Homerââ¬â¢s personal struggle, then, was as an effort to craft meaning out of an existence ridden with war and strife. If we apply Nietzscheââ¬â¢s understanding of Homerââ¬â¢s project an effort undertaken to oppose a purely repulsive view of life on earth the Odyssey presents us with Homerââ¬â¢s affirmation of life as worth living. Though fleeting and fragile, homecoming is something towards which Odysseus is willing to journey in spite of its obvious dangers. He is a decorated hero of gruesome battle and yet even the homecoming towards which he journeys throughout the duration of the Odyssey is understood to be impermanent. During Odysseusââ¬â¢ voyage to the underworld, the insightful prophet Teiresias foreshadows continuing wanderings for Odysseus. Death is destined to come to him ââ¬Å"at seaâ⬠after a journey that takes him back away from home, (Odyssey, XI, 134 XI, 119-121). Still, he is willing to oppose even the goddess Kalypso in her wish to have him as her eternal lover. Kalypso wonders at the discovery of him crying beside the vast and infinite sea, where ââ¬Å"the sweet lifetime was draining out of him / as he wept for a way home,â⬠(Odyssey, V, 152-153). Faced with infinity in life and existence, the mortal Odysseus mourns the loss of his essence as a striving, existing individual. Nietzsche provides a useful context in which to situate Odysseusââ¬â¢ misery. Every Greek, he says, ââ¬Å"felt the burning desire within him to be an instrument of bringing salvation to his cityâ⬠¦For that reason, the individuals in antiquity were freer, because their aims were nearer and easier to achieve,â⬠(Nietzsche, 98). Odysseusââ¬â¢ palpable goal of returning home is a source of comfort in the wake of an ever-changing, struggle-filled world. Mortal Odysseus is ill suited for eternity alongside an immortal companion. His choices are endowed with a gravity and consequence that an immortal cannot understand. Indeed, Kalypso questions how Odysseus could yearn for his homecoming so thoroughly, knowing ââ¬Å"in [his] own heart how many hardships / [he is] fated to undergo,â⬠(Odyssey, V, 206-207). To abandon his homecoming would be impossible for a human being, endowed with the perspective that mortality gives his choices. Such abandonment would amount to the pos ition in which modern man finds himself: ââ¬Å"crossed everywhere by infinityâ⬠¦ he cannot even overtake the tortoise,â⬠(Nietzsche, 98). It is for this reason that Odysseus is willing to risk his life at the hands of the gods with a resolution to return home (Odyssey, V, 219-224). With this risk, Odysseus can become a hero because, unlike a god, he can risk everything ââ¬â he can risk his life.It is Odysseusââ¬â¢ monumental journey, across vast distances and in spite of incredible hardship, which affirms the worthiness of his end. In Homerââ¬â¢s account of life as worth living, even a homecoming that is fragile and tenuous is worth tireless pursuit. Nietzsche characterizes the worthiness of this struggle, as Homer sees it, in terms of humanityââ¬â¢s dually natural and human nature. Our ââ¬Å"ââ¬Ënatural characteristics and those called specifically ââ¬Ëhumanââ¬â¢ have grown together inextricably,â⬠so that our emotionally and rationally dr iven decisions are motivated by the very finititude of our existence (Nietzsche, 95). It is useful to apply this understanding to an interpretation of Odysseusââ¬â¢ journey and the ultimate end he pursues. It would otherwise be troubling to consider the imperfection of Odysseusââ¬â¢ homecoming, since it is admittedly impermanent at best. The image of Homerââ¬â¢s Odysseus fighting back against the currents of war and death for a homecoming he knows to be only fleeting is certainly tragic, but still depicts life as worth living. Nietzsche locates something decidedly optimistic in Homerââ¬â¢s worldview. He shudders to think what the Greek world would look like ââ¬Å"without Homerââ¬â¢s guiding and protecting hand,â⬠(Nietzsche, 96). Without it, a look at the Greek world leads one ââ¬Å"to nausea at existence, to the view of existence as a punishment to be discharged by serving out oneââ¬â¢s time, to the belief that existence and indebtedness were identica l,â⬠(Nietzsche, 96). Homerââ¬â¢s poetry transforms an existence that is cruel and base into one so precious that his protagonist in the Odyssey even prefers to wager immortal fury rather than relinquish his hold on moral life. Satire in John Gardners Grendel Essay - 597 Words
Satire in Grendel The state is an organization of violence, a monopoly in what it is pleased to call legitimate violence (Gardner, 119). This excerpt from John Gardners Grendel shows one of the many issues he deals with in his satire of man, and that is the issue of the use of violence in society. Gardner shows this throughout the book, but most prominently in chapter eight, in which we learn of the arrival of Hrothulf, Hrothgars nephew, at Herot. Hrothgar recognizes the evil in Hrothgars kingdom. He discusses the problems of the government with an old man known as Red Horse. The point made in the opening quote is that Mens violence is chained to good (i.e., to the king): legitimate force that chops off theâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This is a satirical look at our sense of freedom. As a society, we often feel we are free. But are we? What is this freedom we think we have? Gardner shows us that the governments main objective is to satisfy the greed of the majority, the rest will do you no harm. Thats it. Youve still got your fiction of consent (Gardner, 118). And if things go wrong, the governments immediate reaction is to use force to gain their objective. Chapter eight states that when men quit work, the police move in. If the borders are threatened, the army rolls out (Gardner, 119). Therefore, the state is always in control. The people have freedom, but only to do what is acceptable to those in power. Is that true freedom? Gardner believes it is not. Public force is the life and soul of every state: not merely army and police but prisons, judges, tax collectors, every conceivable repression (Gardner, 119). So even though we believe we live in a free society, we are truly controlled and kept in line by the government at all times. For all of the pride humankind takes in its established government systems, they are flawed. And as for glorious revolutions that change the face of the government or replace one government with another, they are truly and simply the pitting of power against power, where the issue is freedom for the winners and enslavement ofShow MoreRelatedAnalysis Of Grendel And The Epic Of Beowulf 1294 Words à |à 6 Pageswho does bad things. Molieres Tartuffe a Masterpiece of French Literature Essay
Molieres Tartuffe a Masterpiece of French Literature Molià ©res Tartuffe has long been considered a masterpiece of French Literature for its powerful social commentary, finely sculptured characters and its presentation of moral theme. While Tartuffe stands soundly on its own merits, its curiosity and impact for audiences both within its own period and for contemporary productions are heightened by the history surrounding its original presentation. Tartuffe was written and produced in a sensitive time for a sensitive audience. King Louis XIV sat upon a throne made uneasy with the plotting and dissent of multiple and powerful factions. For the next three years Molià ©re continued to present Tartuffe at private gatherings hoping to garner the support he needed to reverse the interdiction against the play s performance. Late in 1664 Molià ©re was able to get the approval of the legate Chili for the performance of Tartuffe. This approval gave Molià ©re grounds to submit a new petition to the King. The King, again, denied the petition. Adding insult to injury, Molià ©res one time sponsor the Prince de Conti wrote a treatise against the stage in which he accused Molià ©re of being an atheist. Given the renewed campaign against him, Molià ©res hopes for producing Tartuffe in 1666 were dashed. On August 5, 1667, operating on a secret agreement with the King, Molià ©re presented The Imposter (A milder version of Tartuffe). The King was not present for the opening as he was encamped with his army at Flanders. This would prove troublesome for Molià ©re when the Church moved to stop further performances of The Imposter and he found himself without what he supposed to be his most important ally, King Louis. The City Of Glass By Tara Brach - 1041 Words
ââ¬Å"There is so much division in this world. So what is really the path of healing? It can begin in this moment, by embracing the life thatââ¬â¢s here,â⬠Tara Brach. In the book The City of Glass, the movie Divergent, and in today s society, people are told that they do not fit into a group and are forced to life on the outside. The City of Glass shows the main dystopian element of division of people into groups or castes. When Clary travels to Idris, the home of Shadowhunters, she quickly sees the separation. Luke, Claryââ¬â¢s step-father who is a Downworlder, gives her a traditional Shadowhunter coat, ââ¬Å"You know how they treat outsiders. Anything you can do to fit inâ⬠(10). Luke speaks from experience. He was once a Shadowhunter before he became a Downworlder. Now he is frowned upon in the city, and does not want the same for Clary. One character who supports dividing people into castes or groups is Valentine. He is Claryââ¬â¢s real father and is threatening Shadowhunters with war. When the Shadowhunters need help Luke suggests for them to team up with the Downworlders and put them on the Council, which is their form of government. ââ¬Å"Without the promise of seats on the Council, my people wonââ¬â¢t fight. They donââ¬â¢t have to love it. They just have to like it better than they l ike the idea of suicideâ⬠(340). Downworlders have never been part of the Shadowhunters community, let alone their government. They have to put aside their differences in order to defend themselves, and fight a common enemy.
The Amendment Of The Constitution - 959 Words
The Fourteenth Amendment of the Constitution is considered by many to be the catchall amendment within the reconstruction amendments that passed not long after the Civil War. Its due process and especially the equal protection clause have single handily changed the course of American History for all eternity. I believe that there are several key issues that plague the way our highest court approaches matters of sexual orientation and other issues as well. In this document I intend to explore what events of the past led to the constitutional interpretation of today regarding the fourteenth. In doing so we will travel over the course of a century or more in time and see the social landscape of a nation evolve based upon new societal interpretations and little more. To begin with some key case law that affected the courts constitutional interpretation regarding equal protection we must begin with Plessy V. Ferguson. In Plessy V. Ferguson we find the court upheld the state law requi ring railroads to maintain two separate cars for black and white while traveling within the State of Louisiana. The rational of the court no matter how wrong I feel it is was that in regards to intrastate commerce the law was constitutional. Justice Harlan wrote the dissent and I feel he made precise remarks that played a role in the future interpretation of the Fourteen Amendment. Asian Management Ownership - Networking and Management
Question: Describe the aspects of Ownership, Networking, and Management in the Indian Business System. Answer Introduction Over the past few years, different aspects of the business including the ownership, networking and management have created huge impacts on the Indian trading system. The prime forms of the ownership involve the professional, entrepreneurial businesses, public sectors, international companies, cooperatives and the non-government organizations (NGOs) (Gedajlovic et al. 2012). Moreover, it includes the family trading and interlinked family business groups. Since 1990, the government had launched the major divestment programs. Consequently, it has reduced the emphasis on the particular public sectors (Budhwar et al. 2013). However, after launching the divest program, the emphasis on the public-private partnership has been enhanced in an efficient manner. During that period, most of the entrepreneurial firms have been formed with the facilitation of the co-founding professional partners. For forming the entrepreneurial firms, professional partners have utilized the venture capital and oth er resources of funding. On the other hand, it has been seen that over the past decades, many foreign companies have invested adequate financial resources in India utilizing the joint venture and new investment and acquisition. Besides this, the family businesses are also increasing in the Indian market and most of the family businesses have been following the ownership structure. By analyzing the business report, it can be assessed that in 1990, there was an average of 18 businesses among the top 50 business houses including Tata Group (Garengo, Patrizia and Milind 2014). Hence, it can be assessed that over the years, the process of ownership has been changed in an effectual manner. In the Indian business system, there is a huge impact on the network. The particular business system is defined by the reliance on horizontal networks as well as the vertical networks. The vertical networks indicate the close and long-standing inter-firm relational contacts between consumers and suppliers. Due to the linkage of large component suppliers with the large automotive firms, the automotive industry exemplifies. For instance, in the 1950s, many indigenous automotive firms had been formed through a particular policy framework following the requirement of the local content prerequisites (Jayaram et al. 2014). It indeed encouraged the vertical disintegration. The renowned car selling company Maruti was formed in 1982 through a joint venture between the Government of India and Suzuki of Japan. However, the particular company needed to follow a particular business framework stating the requirements of the local Indian components. Aside from this, the comparative advantages of In dia are leading the value-added services and designs. It indicates the higher potentiality of the growth in a structural manner. The business management style in India is structural. By analyzing the history of the Indian business, it can be assessed that the particular country believes in the hierarchical society. Consequently, it should have some impacts on management style in the business. The managers position demands some roles for executing the business in an efficient manner. Most of the businesses in India follows either participative or the autocratic management style (Budhwar et al. 2013). Most of the multinational organizations have been showing adequate interest in establishing the business in India due to its diverse workforce culture at the workplace. Hence, it can be assessed that the effective management style indeed facilitates the Indian businesses in experiencing the enormous growth within the certain timeline. Research into this type of topic may provide some insight into how specific pieces of technology can affect the behaviors of criminals in society.Another area of interest is whether or not crime can be increased by virtue of spending time in crowded areas or, more broadly, on modernity itself. It is possible to see a link between crime and the length of t he average commute, but such a link does not seem to show up in a lot of cases. Instead, the location and composition of urban areas seem to have a great deal to do with crime, particularly in areas where poverty, crime, and urbanization are common.Crime has been associated with a number of other factors, as well. This includes such issues as the social and cultural effects of race, ethnic group, religion, and place. For example, research on the effects of the Middle East conflict can provide interesting insights into the ways in which communities interact and are affected by the presence of race in a particular area. A good research paper on crime on ethnicity, religion, and place will most likely touch on these types of issues.Another key concept to consider is that of corruption. Corruption is an issue that has received much attention from investigators as well as observers over the past couple of decades. While many researchers have focused on one part of the crime issue - crime rates - it is important to recognize that corruption can occur in any crime problem. Understanding the factors that promote or prevent corruption in a particular community will help you better understand how a particular research topic might fit in.Crimes can also be investigated using different perspectives and methods. Is it possible to tell what makes someone commit a crime? It is possible, but it is important to realize that one cannot simply assign specific causes to a particular crime. Crime research is best done by paying attention to the factors that may cause a crime to take place in the first place and those that may make it worse in the end.Another topic that often comes up in research papers on crime is that of distinguishing between different types of crimes. Many people think of violence and crime as being different things, but it can sometimes be difficult to distinguish between what may be classified as violence versus what may be classified as crime. Research into crime differences can provide an invaluable tool to the researcher who is looking to study violence on a larger scale.Of course, there are many other topics that researchers choose to investigate for research papers on crime. A topic list for a research paper on crime can give you many ideas for what topics to focus on and what types of research to conduct. By learning about crime through research, you will have an easier time exploring the many different factors that can contribute to crime.

Combating Female Genital Mutation In Sudan Essays -
Combating Female Genital Mutation In Sudan Combating Genital Mutilation in Sudan In the country of Sudan, in Northern Africa, there is a procedure that is tradition and is performed on most women called female genital mutilation, or FGM, which used to be known as female circumcision. It has been a normal practice for generations, but is now the subject for international controversy on the morality and safety of this procedure. It is now known that 82 percent of Sudanese woman have an extreme form of genital mutilation done on them, normally at a young age. This form of mutilation is called the Pharaonic form and includes the total removal of the clitoris and labia, and stitching together of the vulva, leaving only a small hole for urination and menstrual cycle. This is normally done without any type of anaesthetic or professional medical care. There is also a more moderate form of mutilation, called Sunni, where only the covering of the clitoris is removed. This practice started and became tradition in foreign countries in or der to ensure that women practice chaste behavior, and to suppress female sexuality. It has also been attributed to religious beliefs of monogamy although most religions do not support this type of practice. In today's society it has become more of a traditional and social norm, and has less to do with religious beliefs. This problem is not only in Sudan; it is practiced in the majority of the continent of Africa as well as other countries. In other cultures, such as Australian aborigines, genital mutilation is a part of the rite of passage into maturation, and is done on both men and women (Bodley, p. 58). FGM has often been referred to as female circumcision and compared to male circumcision. However, such comparison is often misleading. Both practices include the removal of well- functioning parts of the genitalia and are quite unnecessary. However, FGM is far more drastic and damaging than male circumcision because it is extremely dangerous and painful. It is believed that two t hirds of these procedures are done by untrained birth attendants, who have little knowledge of health. They are often unconcerned with hygiene, and many use instruments that are not cleaned or disinfected properly. Instruments such as razor blades, scissors, kitchen knives, and pieces of glass are commonly used. These instruments are frequently used on several girls in succession and are rarely cleaned, causing the transmission of a variety of viruses such as the HIV virus, and other infections. There are many side effects of this procedure including trauma, stress or shock from the extreme pain; and bleeding, hemorrhaging and infections that can be fatal from improperly cleaned instruments. There can also be painful and difficult sexual relations and obstructed childbirth. The effects of this one procedure can last a lifetime, both physically and pyschologically. Today, 85 to 114 million girls and women in more than 30 countries have been subjected to some form of genital mutilatio n. It was declared illegal in Sudan in 1941, although that did little to stop this age-old tradition. To this day, about 90% of women are still being subjected to the mutilation, especially if it is a family tradition. In various cultures there are many justifications for these practices. Many older women feel that if they have an uncircumcised daughter, she will not be able to find a husband and will become a social outcast. Family honor, cleanliness, protection against spells, insurance of virginity and faithfulness to the husband, or simply terrorizing women out of sex are sometimes used as excuses for the practice of FGM. Examples similar to this are found in other cultures, such as the Maasai, an African cattle peoples tribe. A clitoridectomy is performed on adolescent girls in this tribe as part of their rite of passage, and signifies that they are ready for marriage. This practice is openly accepted by these women as another ritual and a normal precondition of marriage (Bodle y, p. 121). The efforts to stop procedures of this kind are mounting though, especially with the help of women ages 16 to 30 who realize the dangers of this practice. These women can help to save their daughters and many other

Geographic and Environmental Factors Essays
Geographic and Environmental Factors Essays Geographic and Environmental Factors Paper Geographic and Environmental Factors Paper The early colonists had trouble passing over the Appalachian Mountains due to the extremely difficult environmental conditions that these mountains posed. The early colonists had to endure harsh and brutal surroundings (that they often didnt survive) in order to be able to reach the other side. The Appalachian chain is a barrier to east-west travel as it forms a series of alternating rigidness and oriented in opposition to any road running east-west (Wisped, 2013). This cross- mountain trek was imperative in order for early settlers to migrate westward and thus expand the united States. As a consequence of the serve conditions, the Appalachian Mountains kept westward expansion from occurring at a faster pace and is actually one of the reasons why colonies developed more rapidly in the east while the west came to be seen as a hostile territory by most colonists. This all changed with the discovery of Cumberland Gap. On the boards of the U. S. States Kentucky[->2], and Virginia[->3] is Cumberland Gap which is a pass through the Appalachian Mountains. : The moment colonists discovered the Cumberland Gap turned out to be an essential time in American history. With the formation of the United States, an important first phase of westward expansion in the late 18th century and early 19th century consisted of the migration of European-descended settlers westward across the mountains into the Ohio Valley through the Cumberland Gap and other mountain passes (Wisped, 2013). Even though the fact that the Cumberland Gap was guarded by Native American tribes when it was first discovered did not deter the westward bound migrants. This pass through the Appalachian Mountains was nonetheless proof that expansion westward was to as difficult as it had been previously and then the floodgates were opened to the migration of the colonists. It is estimated that between 200,000 and 300,000 migrants passed through the gap on their way into Kentucky[->4] and the Ohio before 1 810 (Wisped, 2013). The second environmental or physical geographic factors that contributed to the development or expansion of the United States were the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. Although many colonists wanted to go farther west, after finally making it to the other side of the Appalachian Mountains, in order to reach he Pacific Coast, some realized that the mid-west region of the United States represented an intriguing location. The area consisted of valuable nutrient rich lands that could be used in growing large areas of grain and raising of livestock. Concomitantly, colonists were impressed with the fact that they could also utilize the Mississippi and Ohio rivers for transportation fifths grown agriculture, for transportation of people, and for food for their tables. The colonists took into account that they could provide basic necessities for numerous individuals and multiple usages by monopolizing the Mississippi and Ohio rivers. By the sass, cotton, grain, pork, and other agricultural products floated down the Mississippi River to the citys docks. The rise of the steamboat brought trade upriver and opened the Midwest to settlers and goods (River Towns, River Networks, 2012). Settlers thus expanded long these rivers and built settlements. The Mississippi, Ohio, Missouri, Illinois, and other rivers knit together the American nation over the course of a century. In an era before widespread highways and railroads, the farms and industries of the Midwest poured their goods downriver to markets around the world (River Towns, River Networks, 2012). This made it possible for the colonies to experience rapid expansion westward and for colonists to significantly contribute to the development and expansion of the Un tied States. The geographical and environmental factors such as the Appalachian Mountains with its Cumberland Gap and factors such as the Mississippi, Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois rivers have significantly contributed to the development and expansion of the United States. The geographical features of the Appalachian are extremely important because of the literal barrier and roadblock that these mountains originally posed to be and then once Cumberland Gap was discovered it literally opened a floodgate to the westward expansion of America. The major river systems of the Mississippi, Ohio, Missouri, and Illinois rivers made possible the growth, development, and facilitated the explanation of the U. S. Because, People followed waterways, from canals to great rivers, to build businesses, communities, and new lives (River Towns, River Networks, 201 2) The most significant environmental or physical geographic factors that contributed to the development of the history and culture of the, Mesopotamia civilization is inextricably connected to the ebb and flow of the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers (Krebs, 2006). History shows that a citys or a civilizations geographic position always plays an important part in its ability to thrive and grow. The area of Mesopotamia neighboring the Euphrates and Tigris rivers provided people with the opportunity to settle in the territory and to build one of the most complex civilizations that existed until that time. In fact, the Mesopotamia civilization is responsible for establishing, developing, and implementing such things as higher social thinking, original agricultural technological methods, and development. This society is responsible and known as the birthplace of civilization; the original place for such things as religion, art, literature, science judicial order, agriculture and so much more. The most significant environmental and physical geographic factors that contributed to the development of the civilization of Mesopotamia were the Tigris-Euphrates river system. Because of its proximity and placement near these rivers, the society developed and grew primarily into a thriving agricultural society. As the muddy Tigris-?Euphrates river system flooded and receded, their silt built a plain with rich soil, ideal for agriculture in which this society of Mesopotamia flourished and capitalized on. Agriculture, thanks to the construction of irrigation ditches, became the primary method of subsistence (for Mesopotamia). Farming was further simplified by the introduction of the plow (Krebs, 2006). Because the rivers provided the environment ideal for agriculture, the Mesopotamia society developed into a rich, prosperous, and influential civilization that passed these developments on to other societys and groups of people. As humans, We are shaped by the world around us. The food we eat, the clothes we wear, even the languages we speak all have a connection to the geography of the world around us. From the first civilizations and cultures throughout history to our world today, people and their environments form complex relationships that can have a profound influence on every aspect of our lives (Geography and Development: Diffusion of Human Societies, 2006-2012). Some of the most important tools in history were first developed in Mesopotamia. The Sumerians were the civilization of people who lived in ancient Mesopotamia and developed tools for a variety of projects, from farming to fighting to transportation (Gabriel, 1999-2013). Through cultural diffusion over time these tools, such as the plow, and other agricultural concepts from the Mesopotamia society reached other regions. An area that these agricultural tools migrated to was the Nile River area (later known as Egypt) by migrations f people through different methods like trade routes and other cultural diffusion methods. Early tribal peoples migrated to the Nile River where they developed a settled agricultural economy and more centralized society (Egypt, 2012). The evolution of these concepts, tools, and knowledge were a significant to the development and growth of, first, the Mesopotamia society and then later the Nile River regions and societies. From there the agricultural concepts and ideas were then carried, spread, and diffused throughout the world.
