The Stimulus and Rhythms of AtalantaThe stimulus which, I scene would be most thought provoking andappealing was Atalanta. I show the idea of characterising a dynamic, blotto vivacious woman appealing cod to my sanitary background intheatre and acting. This enabled me to perceive hidden depths ofAtalantas character, which were non evident at first sight.Therefore, I chose this stimulus beca do I believed that Atalantawould be an interesting and challenging character to present throughthe medium of dance. some other reason why I chose this stimulus, was theuse of the cloth and costume to portray how rhythms can be created byrepeating and opposing shapes and how certain lines demonstratemotion. Due to my previous experience as a metric gymnast, I wasable develop original and unusual movements, because I was use tousing cloth and ribbons as a means for demonstrating highly hardphysical movementsAfter receiving the stimulus, I first of all researched Atalanta.Using a variety of resources such as and the Internet, I found thatAtalanta derived from Greek legend, and was a strong athleticcompetitor, whom no man could beat at running. This was forceful inmy dance through the use of sustained running movements and the use ofpauses to emphasis the importance of the poses. This also helped toreflect the stillness of the wooden form. analysis and furtherresearch led me to conclude that the pose and expression of thesculpture Atlanta are portraying her determination and power. This wasevident in the strong and dynamic movements of my dance, as well asthe use of seventh cranial nerve expressions, incarnate expressions and focus. My bodilyexpressions were natural, controlled with an upright posture, thushelping to portray her purpose as an athlete in a race. The facialexpressions portrayed her determination, thus demonstrating her strongand vivacious character, and the embodiment of power, which Atalantarepresents. The combination of body and facial gestures sha red in themood and theme of both the dance and the music. Focus aided my facialexpressions. It was important for the focus to be strong, not lookingat the traumatize at any time, but either looking out into the situation suchas when doing an arabesque but also facing inwards to trim down on amove, for example the running movements from the pictures.Through the use of Stanslavkis method-acting I used my research tocharacterise a strong female woman, which was past transposed intomovements. To achieve the dimensions of Atalantas character, Iprofiled her, so that when I was dancing, I would substantiate thecharacter, this enabled me to access her personality quickly.
